Connect Ansa to Claude, ChatGPT and other AI tools (MCP)

Connect Ansa to Claude, ChatGPT and other MCP tools to check what it knows, read conversations, test answers and, if you allow it, update knowledge.

Last updated

Connect Ansa to an AI tool such as Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor, then ask it to look after Ansa for you in plain words. The tool needs to support MCP (Model Context Protocol). It can always look; it can only make changes if you allow that.

What you can ask

Any connection:

  • "Show me questions Ansa couldn't answer this week."
  • "Ask Ansa what our returns policy is and tell me if the answer is right."
  • "Why doesn't Ansa know our opening hours? Search its knowledge."
  • "How many answers have we used this month?"
  • "Summarise what people asked about yesterday."
  • "Give me the code to add Ansa to our website, and our chat link."

With Make changes allowed:

  • "Add a Q&A pair: do you deliver on Sundays? Yes, from 10am to 2pm."
  • "Add a text snippet with our new delivery areas."
  • "Re-read our website, we changed our prices."
  • "Change the welcome message to mention our summer sale."
  • "Make the chat bubble dark blue and give the chat window a navy background."
  • "Delete the old 2025 price list."
  • "Create a new assistant called Lekki branch." (owners and admins, if your plan includes more than one)

Connect your AI tool

Finish setting up your Ansa workspace first. Every tool uses this address (also in Settings under Connected AI tools):

https://ansa.chat/mcp

Claude

  1. Open Settings, then Connectors.
  2. Choose Add custom connector.
  3. Name it Ansa, paste https://ansa.chat/mcp, and click Add.
  4. Click Connect next to Ansa.

On a Claude team or company plan, an owner may need to add it first.

ChatGPT

  1. In settings, find apps or connectors. On some plans, turn on developer mode in the advanced settings first.
  2. Create a connector named Ansa with https://ansa.chat/mcp.
  3. Choose OAuth sign-in if asked.

In business workspaces, an admin may need to allow custom connectors. Can't find the menu? Search ChatGPT's help for "custom connector".

Cursor

  1. Open Settings, then MCP (or Tools & integrations).

  2. Add a new MCP server. If Cursor opens its settings file, add:

    {
      "mcpServers": {
        "ansa": { "url": "https://ansa.chat/mcp" }
      }
    }

  3. Sign in to Ansa when Cursor asks.

Other tools

Look for "add MCP server", "custom connector" or "remote server" and paste the address. The tool must support OAuth sign-in. In Claude Code, run:

claude mcp add --transport http ansa https://ansa.chat/mcp

Check the MCP approval page

An Ansa page opens in your browser. Sign in, then check:

  • App name: Verified apps are confirmed by their maker's website. Not verified apps named themselves, so only continue if you started this connection.
  • Sends you back to: should be the tool you're connecting, such as claude.ai.
  • Signed in as: the Ansa account it will use. Click Use another account if it's wrong.
  • Workspace: shown when you belong to more than one. The connection only works in the one you pick. To use another, connect again and pick it here.
  • What it can do: View your workspace and test your assistant is always included (plan, usage, knowledge, conversations, test questions). Make changes to your knowledge and assistant appears only if the tool asks. It lets the tool add or delete text snippets, Q&A pairs and websites, re-read sources, edit your assistant's name, welcome message, "don't know" reply, instructions, suggested questions, contact link, colours and light or dark look, and create a new assistant if your plan and role allow it. Untick it to only allow looking; to allow it later, disconnect and connect again.

Click Approve, or Deny to cancel.

What a connected AI tool can't do

Even with Make changes, it can't:

  • see your password or account settings
  • see or change your plan or billing
  • publish or unpublish your assistant
  • pause or delete assistants
  • change your allowed websites
  • upload documents, or connect or disconnect WhatsApp
  • delete your account

Website text, documents and visitor messages can't give your AI tool instructions.

Test questions from AI tools use answers

Each test answer counts toward your monthly answers, like the test chat, and doesn't appear in Conversations. See What happens at your monthly limit. Searching, reading conversations and checking usage are free.

Disconnect an AI tool

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Find the tool under Connected AI tools. It shows View only or View and make changes, and when it was connected and last used.
  3. Click Disconnect and confirm.

Access ends straight away. To reconnect, connect and approve it again.

Good to know about MCP connections

  • With several assistants, name the one you mean ("the Lekki branch assistant"); otherwise the tool uses your first one.
  • Each connection works in one workspace, and only does what your role there allows. For another workspace, connect again and pick it on the approval page.
  • After 30 days unused, or a password reset, you'll need to approve the connection again.
  • Sign out everywhere disconnects every app. See Sign out on every device.
  • Changes go live for customers right away. Ask your AI tool to check with you before deleting anything.
