WhatsApp costs: what Meta charges and what Ansa counts
WhatsApp costs with Ansa: Meta's free allowance, when Meta charges you, where to see those charges, and how replies count toward your plan.
Last updated
Ansa doesn't charge extra for WhatsApp. Replies use answers from your Ansa plan, and Meta (which runs WhatsApp) bills you separately for messages.
WhatsApp on your Ansa plan
WhatsApp is included on Starter, Pro and Business.
- Each reply uses one answer, including "I don't know" replies, from the same monthly allowance as your website chat.
- The "I can only read text messages" and "please contact the business directly" messages are free.
When you run out, customers get the "please contact the business directly" message until next month or until you upgrade. See What happens at your monthly limit.
WhatsApp on your Meta account
- 1,000 free messages a month per number.
- After that, a small fee per message, depending on the customer's country. Meta's WhatsApp pricing page has the rates, which Meta can change.
- Ansa only replies to customers who message you first. It never sends marketing messages.
Meta's count won't match your Ansa answers exactly: long answers can be sent as several messages, and the free Ansa messages above still count with Meta.
Add a payment method for WhatsApp
Add one in WhatsApp Manager right after connecting your number. Without it, Deploy shows "Meta needs a payment method on your WhatsApp Business account before replies can be sent." Replies restart once it's added.
See what Meta has charged
Sign in to WhatsApp Manager with the Facebook account you connected with. Its insights show messages and costs; invoices are in your Meta business billing settings. Usage & plan shows only your Ansa answers.
